Croatian Leaders Commemorate European Day of Remembrance for Victims of Totalitarian Regimes
On the European Day of Remembrance for Victims of Totalitarian and Authoritarian Regimes, Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, along with other government officials, laid wreaths at Mirogoj Cemetery. Plenković stressed the importance of condemning human rights violations, researching historical atrocities, and honoring victims as a minimum requirement for Croatia's democratic identity. He highlighted the necessity of confronting the past to address present and future challenges. The day, established by the European Parliament and observed in Croatia since 2011, commemorates victims of totalitarian and authoritarian regimes that caused immense suffering and loss of freedoms. Minister of Justice Bošnjaković attended a conference in Tallinn, Estonia, while other delegates laid wreaths at Macelj and Goli Otok.
