Prime Minister: Nobody in EPP Questions Croatia's EU Membership
Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader assured that within the European People's Party (EPP), there is no doubt about Croatia becoming the 28th member of the European Union. Speaking in Brussels after an EPP summit, Sanader highlighted the arguments he presented, stressing that open bilateral issues, like the border dispute with Slovenia, should not impede accession negotiations. He advocated for resolving the border issue through international law at the International Court of Justice, arguing that Slovenia's own accession in 2004 under similar circumstances demonstrates that double standards should not be applied. Sanader also mentioned discussions with German Chancellor Angela Merkel about his upcoming visit to Berlin and listed prominent attendees at the EPP meeting.
