Croatian Representatives Attend First Formal Council of Ministers of Justice and Home Affairs in Brussels
On December 13, 2011, representatives of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Croatia, led by Ambassador Branko Baričević and Filip Dragović, director of the Directorate for European Integration and International Relations, participated for the first time as active observers in the Council of Ministers of Justice and Home Affairs in Brussels. The meeting discussed key issues such as the Schengen area, the Schengen Information System, the common European asylum system, migration, the European visa system, and the multiannual financial framework for internal affairs. The Council also adopted a decision to sign a PNR data exchange agreement with the US and adopted conclusions on combating crime against cultural goods, counterfeiting, cooperation with Eastern Partnership countries and third countries on security matters, drug policy, new psychoactive substances, and the better utilization of SIS and SIRENE systems.
